A 20-year-old female student was allegedly raped at the lecturer's office at UNILAG.
During her visit to his office to discuss concerns with her result, she said he sexually violated her.
The Vice Chancellor of the university was given a seven-day ultimatum to produce Dr. Babalola for questioning. When questioned, the lecturer reportedly confessed to the crime.
Upon learning of this confession, the Vice Chancellor promptly notified the police through the school’s Chief Security Officer, leading to Dr. Babalola’s arrest.
The spokesperson for the state Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, have confirmed the arrest and stated that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
“He is to appear in court in the coming days,” the PPRO added.
In other news, a 100-level student of the Federal University of Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), identified as Atanda Modupe Deborah, was found dead two days after her disappearance.
It was gathered that Modupe, who was enrolled in the Nursing Department, stream A, in the Faculty of Basic Medical Science, went missing after she went to her class to study on Monday night, September 4, 2023. Continue reading here
