Buhari: At Maiduguri, Buhari inaugurated a power plant operated by NNPC Ltd.
He pointed out that securing national energy sufficiency for Nigerians is a top implementation priority of the ERGP.
"The Federal Government's sensibilities in identifying and alleviating the situation of Nigerians, particularly those recovering from the negative impact of the insurgency in this North-East region, are fully reflected in the aggressive project strategy adopted to accomplish this project on schedule.
The Federal Government is determined to implement programs that deepen domestic gas utilization, increase national power generation capacity, revive industries, and create a number of jobs for economic growth, President Buhari assured Nigerians. This is especially true in the power sector.
He instructed the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, and the Transmission Company of Nigeria to continue working with NNPC Ltd. to make sure that millions of Nigerians have access to reasonably priced electricity in the near future.
He expressed confidence that the New NNPC Ltd. will continue to produce inexpensive energy for all Nigerians, not just in the near future but also in the years to come, thanks to its unyielding character.
President Buhari, who is making his fifth trip to the state since Prof. Babagana Zulum took office, congratulated the governor for honouring his campaign commitments to the state's residents.
He proclaimed that the governor, who is up for reelection, deserved to be elected again.
"Your Excellency, the amount of projects I commissioned during your first term is beyond my memory, but they are all great ones. I'm grateful.
"We also recognize the outstanding effort you have carried out in bringing back IDPs and refugees from Cameroon and other surrounding countries, working closely with the Federal Government and other partners. He stated, "I believe the Governor merits another term.
The President opened several new roads in Maiduguri while he was there, including the dualized Ahmadu Bello Way, Shehu Sanda Kura Road, Lafiya Road, Mogoram Road, Ultra-Modern Market, Bama Road, newly built staff quarters for the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Hon.
