PDP organizes a panel to implore Wike | Viralgist

The Peoples Democratic Party conflict has been resolved under conditions laid out by Nyesom Wike's supporters, the governor of Rivers State.

In two separate interviews with The Viralgistblog on Sunday, the governor's supporters claimed that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, still had time to reconsider his choice of Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Senator Walid Jibrin, the chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, announced that the party had formed a nine-member team to implore Wike as the situation surrounding Atiku's running mate grew more dire.

After defeating Wike and other candidates for the presidential ticket at the PDP convention, Atiku picked Okowa as his running mate.

Wike did not deserve the treatment he received from Atiku and the PDP, according to Confidence Deko, the chairman of the Gokana Local Government Area in Rivers State, in a conversation with one of our Port Harcourt correspondents.

"In my opinion, Wike has done so much for the PDP that I don't think he deserves what the party handed him," he declared. Actually, Atiku Abubakar and the party requested that the National Working Committee determine who would be the vice president. He (Atiku) disregarded the report that was provided and chose Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of the Delta State.

"I'm not saying he shouldn't use someone, but I believe that if he was to do so, it would be inappropriate."

"The only thing to do is to proclaim Wike and kick Okowa out of that area. Wike received the most votes from the South-South in 2019.

In a similar vein, several Wike-supporting members of the House of Representatives asserted that the PDP's selection of Okowa as its running partner ensured its defeat.

In separate interviews with The Viralgistblog on Sunday, PDP lawmakers also criticized Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the party's national chairman, for his part in the chaos that preceded the opposition party's presidential primary.

Teejay Yusuf, a representative from Kogi State in the House, responded that it would be conceivable if the presidential candidate could replace Okowa with Wike.

But he issued a warning against abusing the governor's devotion.

"I am aware that the standard-bearer is a reputable politician who is familiar with the dynamics, but he is also a person. Therefore, if he made the wrong choice, I think that the Electoral Act (2022) provides enough time; there are eight months until the general elections. One day in politics can be a million other days. One day may accomplish a lot, Yusuf said.

The congressman stated that while avoiding "a situation that would jeopardize the unity of the party and the collective desire to win the election," the standard-bearer should naturally search for the best course of action.

Additionally, the legislator chastised Ayu for allegedly taking sides in there..

The congressman said, "If the information that a committee was formed—that you formed; it was your committee—and they chose someone is correct. Naturally, you should call the person if you are not taking them. I voted for Atiku in 2019 and was pleased with how he conducted himself. And I am aware that swift action was taken following the primary, which is how (Senator) Bukola Saraki was appointed director-general of the campaign. In this one, offers were made and Governor Wike was pressed to be the party's vice presidential nominee. Call Wike if you have any reason (not to choose him), but it shouldn't be because he would be...

A high-ranking party official and close assistant to the PDP standard-bearer, however, contended that the opposition party's problem would worsen if Okowa were to be replaced by the governor of Rivers State.

The insider added that Okowa was Atiku's choice since their philosophies were similar.

He stressed that the party would make every effort to prevent a recurrence of the issue.

The source stated, "Replacing Okowa with Wike at this time will further lead to more issues inside the party," in a chat with one of our journalists. Despite the fact that not everyone will agree with the choice, the candidate has already made it.

"The selection of Okowa was based on ideologies; the candidate's ideologies coincide with his, and that is..
